Patterned Pines

Enough about the 12 Days of Holidays Sale and on to the cards I have been making mostly in my head for a few weeks inspired by Craftin'Caro who blog you can visit here. Dunja turned me on to this hostess level one set from the Holiday mini catalogue! As a rule I don't get super excited about the hostess sets because it disappoints alot of my friends and customers when they find out they need to host a party to get the stamps. You can however collect orders from your friends or families to equal $200 or more and get hostess benefits that way. I would highly recommend that route. But back to the cards. I used the following three colours of cardstock and inks: Pretty in Pink, Bashful Blue and Certainly Celery with a dash of Kraft cardstock a dusting of Whisper White Craft Ink. I also used clear and white embossing powders with Versamark. For accessories I used silver cord, my pokey thing{some call it an awl}, my Stampin'Up! mat pack with the fresh favorites buttons and a corner rounder. I fooled around and made two or three sets with different greetings and different placement of the trees, cardstock and some with buttons, gems and rhinestone brads. I love buttons! Patrick of course critiqued them and said it didn't look enough like a forest and they apparently need more trees and some snow. Sorry Pat I am trying to keep it simple so I am not getting out the flocking! All images Stampin'Up! I hope you like them as much as I do. I used the scanner to capture the cards but they didn't turn out as well as I had hoped. Next time I will use the camera.

Instructions
1.Stamp greeting on bottom half of Ruby Red card stock. Cover image with White Stampin' Emboss powder, and shake off excess. Heat emboss.
2.Stamp polka-dot image in Ruby Red ink on top half of Ruby Red card stock.
3.Stamp three stocking images in Old Olive, Ruby Red, and Taken with Teal ink, and cut out stockings. Adhere over polka-dots.
4.Sew across top of stockings.
5.Fold Old Olive polka-dot ribbon in half, and staple to back side of stocking piece
6.Adhere Old Olive strip and Tempting Turquoise button to stocking piece.
7.Adhere stocking piece to Ruby Red notecard.

Thanks to a monthly publication Stampin'Success that is sent out to demonstrators every month I now know I can use the Tombow Glue to do so! This was on the cover of the magazine!

Instructions
Basic Gift Wrap
1.Wrap small presents using Holiday Lounge Designer Series paper.
2.Embellish with strips of coordinating card stock, scalloped using Scallop Edge punch.
3.Tie ribbons around presents using the bow techniques from the July 2008 issue of Stampin' Success.
Ruffle Embellishment
1.Punch four circles from Whisper White card stock using 1-3/4" Circle punch. Set one circle aside.
2.Score across each of the three remaining circles using bone folder and ruler, creating a starburst pattern.
3.Pierce hole in center of starburst using paper-piercing tool.
4.Cut slit along one score line to pierced hole. Fold each circle in accordion along score lines to create fans.
5.Apply Tombow Multi Purpose adhesive to outside (curved) edge of fans, and apply Silver glitter to edge. Allow glitter to dry thoroughly before continuing.
6.Take one fan, and adhere one end section to the end section of a second fan, overlapping two folded sections (a "v" shape) to ensure that the pieces are securely fastened together. The unfastened ends of your two circles will overlap, creating a spiral.
7.Adhere one end of final fan to unfastened end at top of spiral, overlapping two folded sections to ensure that pieces are securely fastened together.
8.Arrange spiral so that it lays flat to create a ruffled, two-layer circle. You may have to trim off a section of the ruffle if the direction of the folds will not allow the ruffle to lay flat.
9.Apply Tombow Multi Purpose adhesive across surface of remaining Whisper White circle, and adhere ruffle to circle.
10.To finish embellishment, stamp snowflake image in Taken with Teal ink on Whisper White card stock, and cut out. Attach Clear Rhinestone brad center of snowflake. Adhere snowflake to center of ruffle using two layered Stampin' Dimensionals.
11.Adhere embellishment over top of tailored bow using two layered Stampin' Dimensionals

I love this set Just Beclause it reminds me of all the fabulous collage type images such as the ones seen on cards in the Stamper's Sampler magazine of which I am a big fan of.
Santa Décor instructions and supplies:

Ingredients:
•Whisper White Cardstock: 1" x 2-1/4"; 1-1/4" x 2-1/2"; 1-1/4" x 3"; 1-1/2" x 2-1/4"; 3" x 3"
Ink
•Old Olive,Ruby Red,Soft Suede,Taken with Teal
•Jet Black StazOn pad
•Basic Black
Accessories & Tools•Old Olive 1-1/4" striped grosgrain ribbon
•Stampin' Dimensionals
•Aqua Painter
•Tape
•Toothpicks
•Jar
•White shredded card stock, tissue paper, or other filler
Instructions
1.Stamp santa image in Jet Black StazOn ink on Whisper White card stock (3" x 3"). Watercolour using Classic Stampin' Pads and Aqua Painter. Cut out, and tape to toothpick.
2.Stamp trees in Old Olive and Taken with Teal ink on Whisper White card stock (1-1/4" x 2-1/2"; 1-1/4" x 3"; 1-1/2" x 2-1/4"). Cut out each tree, and tape to toothpick.
3.Fill apothecary jar a quarter of the way with filler, and stick toothpicks into filler to create a snowy scene.
4.Tie Old Olive 1-1/4" striped grosgrain ribbon around top of jar.
5.Ink December 25 image using Stampin' Write markers, and stamp image on remaining piece of Whisper White card stock (1" x 2-1/4"). Colour portions of ornaments using Classic Stampin' Pads and Aqua Painter. Tuck card stock under ribbon knot, and secure using Stampin' Dimensionals.

I love this countdown to Christmas Calendar I made with Chris at Cherish the Thought in Port Moody. We used a drill! such a thrill. I am working on another one for a Christmas gift with the Frosty Day papers, Felt Flurries and Chocolate Satin Ribbon shown here. So far I have cut the papers and sprayed my box with homemade Shimmer mist! Love the colours! Guess what? All these products are on our Clearance Rack right now as well. Watch and see!

Spirograph wannabee...

This was very similar to a card i made last year. It looks good with Stampin'Up!'s stretchy silver cord. I love what you can do with the scallop circle. I had it in my mind to do it but getting it right took some doing. It is all about math and i guess that isn't my strong point so Patrick helped me and we realized you had to wrap the scallop after counting five bumps continually. I like the look and it reminds me of a spirograph!

My favorite Christmas Design

I used the Stampin'Up! set Friends 24/7 which I wanted for so long. I added a half back pearl from the pretties kit to the image and some of the flocked red paper from the Christmas Cocoa Specialty Designer Paper. It is velvety and raised! I love it! Also I added some of the Olive and White taffeta ribbon from the Mistletoe Ribbon Originals, both out of the Holiday Mini Catalogue. I added a layer of green cardstock behind the Whisper White at the last minute to tie the colour in to the rest of the card. As soon as I got my dsp I realized the pattern was similar to the image in the 24/7 stamp set! It took me a month to get around to making this card but I was rolling it around in my mind for weeks. I hope you like it.

Here's a photo of a couple of the make and take projects I did at the Stampin'Up! Convention in Salt Lake City. The Big Shot was used with the Two Tags Bigz Die.

Here's one of my swaps I made in August for Convention. I used Tempting Turquoise and Green Galore with White Glossy Cardstock and Stazon, spounges, taffeta ribbon, a corner rounder and made a tag that slid out. The stamp set is Fresh Cuts 111634. I love this stamp set because it has such a collage type of image and is very forgiving. Unfortunately I was only able to make about 20 of them. I got so many lovely cards back. This cute little box was made at the Stampin'Up! Convention in August in Salt Lake City, Utah. After it's cut and assembled the Retro Remix wheel was rolled along the edge in Old Olive ink. The 1/2 inch circle punch was used to take a notch out of the side so you know which side to open it on. The other side is fashioned like a hinge. Use sticky strip to put it together and then tie a bit of melon mambo ribbon around it. On the whisper white piece we used the Hello Again Stamp set and stamped the flower on scrap and cut it out, added a dimensional added a rhinestone brad and viola. Glitter can be added for additional bling!
